3. Al Unisono
Lido Pimienta is an experimental artist. She is unafraid to push the boundaries of sound and along with Kvesche Bijons-Ebacher, Blake Macfarlane and Robert Drisdelle that is exactly what they did in the pinball sessions studio. Manipulating sounds through be-jeweled, stickered and glittered boxes, along with vocals and clarinet – Lido Pimienta and co. put on an amazing show whilst recording their session.
Lido came into the studio with an incredible air of confidence and immediately set the stage for what would be going on. Her antics on and off the stage are enrapturing, joyous and most of all entertaining. We sat down for what would end up being a failed video interview but her charm, wit and fierce attitude had us intrigued from the very beginning. We weren’t disappointed as she launched into the intro using loops to playfully create her very distinct intro to the session. This is what Lido does, she mixes, contorts and uses different aspects of a sound, a situation, a moment to create something other and amuse the audience and, perhaps more importantly, herself.
We’re pleased to bring this session as a part of our Wavelength 14 series. You can find all the listings on Wavelength’s website and catch Lido Pimienta at The Garrison, in Toronto, February 16th for the final night of the festival.
